Well, I did a axle swap in the spring. I have a High pinion D-44 from a 78 Ford F-250 with 5.13's "gears" & A LIMMITED SLIP. Stock shafts & a Rubicon Express axle mount kit mixed with some custom mounts. The rear is from a 78 Ford F-150 Ford 9" with a Detroit Locker & 5.13's & 31 spline shafts. The motor "only for a few more weeks" is stock & is going to be replaced with a 03' Grand Cherokee motor with under 50,000 miles on it.
The trans is OEM from the start the "said to be junk" Pugoe, pugot, pewukeit?" It has done well for as hard as I run this rig & will last one more run if I get the time. The T-case is stock with one rebuild on it & "NO" SYE or C.V. shaft in the mix. The Long Arm kit was the first fabd on a XJ here in Alaska & a few have followed the steps I have taken to gain such a nice ride for road & trail. My tire size now is 38/12.5/15 TSL Bias ply's. I air down to 8pounds & let it fly. The new axles are only 2" per side wider over the factory set. I started with the rear D-35 & front HP D-30 & the rear lasted about 2 months on 35's. From that point the rear was swaped for a D-44 from a 87 XJ & it lasted about 3 years till I busted the Ring & pinion pulling a few rigs out of some bad trails. This has been just as good a rig or better than my CJ-5! I can haul 500 lbs of gear at speed & feel god doing it. I hope to keep posting pics as I do my motor swap & will show you guys a few more things I have in mind for it. oh, This is a 87XJ.

Oh, I am sitting at about 11-12"s of lift at this point & don't want to go higher. The XJ also sports a 8274 winch. The best IMO.
