Outer Limits 4x4 Board

A mate is about to bodylift his Disco Series 1 4-door and I was wondering, appart from the obvious bolts and blocks, what needs to be prepared for (ie brake lines, shifter probs, etc)?

Anyone who has done one of these before, any info would be appreciated.

My Range Rover has a body lift and is almost the same as a disco under the skin. You will need to look at brake lines, seat belt mounts, radiator position and gear levers. All is relatively easy to do. There may be a few other things as well that I've forgotten.

How do the seat belts change, what needs adjusting?

Do the brake lines have enough in them to be pulled through or do they need replacing?

Seat belts: the tee bolt that goes between chassy and body requires extending.

When I did my rangie years ago I just straightned the steel brake lines a bit and pulled them through so that i could mount then lower on the body.

I did a 2" body lift last year on my s1 disco nothing is overly complex.
I used nut extensions on the seat belts bolts (they are a theaded hex tube) you just cut the existing bolt and use the nut extenions to lengthen it. You will need to either raise or lower the radiator mount, i welded a 2'' box section to the old mounts at the bottom of the radiator and cut the fan shrould as a temporary measure as i will put in electric fans soon. as long as your bolt aren't rusted its a 1/2 day job. the brake line are long enough even with a 2" spring lift as well as i still have play in the line at full articulation.

With a 2" spring and 2" body lift, what size tyres did you end up running after that?

i currently run 31's easily,i know 35's will fit on the rear as i have already cut away the back 4" of the guard and i reacon i can fit 35 to the front with a little trimming. i'm chasing some old 35" tyres to play with before i go out and buy new simexs otherwise it will be 33's as i know 33s will definatly fit .

Plus extending your bumpstops???

have you needed to trim any of the doors to run 36s do you have pics what size bump stop you could save me heaps of time a i want to run 35" simex extremes.

Yeah, I'll be extending the bumpstops as well, but nothing major, articulation will not suffer as much as the benefit of having those tires...life is a compromise I guess.
