Hi guys ,I have a snorkel on the car but notice if i go through heaps of water or mud I find traces around the air filter ,therefore it is not sealing and is getting sucked up from the engine bay.
Has any one else had problems with the factory plumbing leaking.I mean one quick look at it and it dosnt look like the best seal.
I was wondering what people do to make it seal well. Do i get a pipe made up from the snorkel entry to the air filter box or do the air filter boxes leak from the seal around the carby.
I am sure its a common prob how can I sort it out??
Thanks in advance Marty

what brand of snorkel?

find where the leak is first.. then you can fix it.

Also there is no 'factory' snorkels, they are all aftermarket, even if sold by Nissan.. so it would have been fitted by some pleb no matter where.

If its coming in from the section outside engine bay to inside, then remove, clean and silastic it up.

It could be a crack in the snorkel

but first, find the leak.

Use silastic if you want, but when you've done that get some tape and wrap it tightly around all the joins in the plumbing. It might not look "bling" but you can SEE if it is sealing or if it's deteriorated or failed. I don't trust silastic much, especially silastic that's inside a pipe where you can't even see if it's come unstuck...

I agree about the plumbing inside the engine bay, it really bites the big one.

Use Sikaflex its miles ahead of silastic and if need be paint will take to it and not peel off, nearly all new car body kits are fixed to the vehicle using Sikaflex, its that good................
