Suzuki + Trailer. What size?

Post by Vineboy »

Hi gurus,
OK I know this is not strictly suzi tech but.....does anyone tow a box trailer behind their suzuki on a regular basis? What size can be easily towed 6X4, 7X5 5X4 etc. Whats too heavy, too wide etc.
Cheers,
Andrew

depends on what sort of motor you have tyre size gearing and weight. it should pull all these size trailers no probs empty just how much you put in them for example i have a swb vit 1.6efi 31 inch tyres and hilux front diff a little heavier than standard and i can pull my 12ft caravan 80 on most hills and 100 on the flat or highway. oh brakes bit scary with zook ones ok with hilux but drive acordingly

Yep, should put some details. Mines a 1.3 cab chassis with standard tyres engine, etc. I need to use it to carry farm chemicals insted of loading up my ute all the time, so it will probably need to be enclosed as well. There are two for sale up here both for $500. One is 5X4 and other 7X5. 5X4 may be more suited for my zook but lose on space. I expect to carry maybe 100 to 250kg most of the time. Wind resistance may be a prob' too

If thats the biggest weight. should be fine with the bigger one. Think of driving with 4 fat guys on the back.

Is this towing on road or tracks?

cheers

Road Nic but am really tempted to build my own, one with 6 stud pattern so I can use it on camping trips as well but must be able to go behind wifes Outback as well. I have priced axle (39mm round) springs hubs etc. About $350 for this plus steel to build. Tried looking on the net for trailer plans but not much help. Some goodies on ebay but alot of shite as well.

a 7x5 trailer is a very heavy trailer just to carry 100-250kg. if your drums will fit into the smaller trailer which im sure they would, i would get the smaller one. the fully loaded smaller trailer would probley weigh the same as the bigger trailer empty.
