V6 exhaust restrictors - Jackaroo, Rodeo

I believe that both the Jackaroo and Rodeo have one or more exhaust restrictors in the ý'piece joining the engine down pipes - can anyone confirm they are present in the 3.2L V6 Rodeos and would anyone like to comment on performance/economy after removing them?
Thanks,
Noel

set of extractors and 2.5 inch sports system does wonders for the v6 makes them sound good also

I know the Jacks have them, a round piece of perforated metal in the Y piece. There was a topic on this on 4WD Australia forum somewhere and they claim removing the restrictor did improve power up in the mid to high revs.
Don't know why it's there but all it could do is slow the exhaust flow down for whatever reason.
I haven't bothered checking mine yet but I'll get around to it after I've got more important things done.
I'd say the 3.2 Rodeo's have them too, why dontcha just take it of for a look? and then ya can let me know too
Cheers

muduppig,
Thats interesting to note about the V6, how does installing extractors and a sports exhaust impact on the fuel economy??

in my opinion basically any motor that you improve on gets better fuel economy say better flow of air in and allow exhaust gases out quicker all helps as for actual better fuel economy on a v6 jack the one i have access to (a mates truck) is only really driven when we go out 4wding so its driven hard so its going to use more fuel anyway
but it does sound good

I doubt a car manufacturer would put something in a car if it A: didn't have to and B: hurt fuel economy.
the only thing i can think of is it may be there to help with emissions, in which case the exhaust system will not be legal.
Most extractor and exhaust makers keep the emissions to a legal level, and have some form of compliance

I think you may be right there. the Y piece is just before the Cat converter and with that restrictor in the Y piece it may slow the flow and keep the gases in the converter longer for a better catalytic conversion.
Of course I dont know shit about this but it could be right

It could also be to keep some low down torque.....

manufacturers add lots of items that affect fuel economy in the name of complying with adr's. restrictors in exhaust bring engine, catalyst up in temp quicker

Isuzu V6 with low down torque?
3.2 V6 peaks at 4200rpm. Useful torque starts at about 3000rpm

Thats what I meant, without them it may start at 4500rpm..........
we used to have a Jackaroo with the 3.2 and it would always stall if the revs wern't up.

I'd say the lack of low rev torque would be mainly due to the factory spec cam lifts and valve timing
