Replacing the gasket is not too hard, problem is the top cover is more than likey warped so just replacing the gasket won't fix the problem.

Best to check the top cover before replacing gasket.

muddymav, i had a 75 series ute. the same thing ocuured with my truck due to the new low sulphur content in the diesel causing the seals in the injector pump to weeken. where about is your location. i had my diesel rep fix it. Rossier Diesel at kotara in nsw was cheap, also got him to bump up the fuel and advance the timing mad a bit of a difference to, price wise was reasonable with both things done $200. was a happy camper. good luck.

I had the same problem with my pump. The gasket (o-ring) is about $8.00 from Nissan and isn't too hard to fit. Whatever you do, don't undo the screw in the middle of the bit the trottle cable attaches to, it makes putting it backtogether a bit more painful.

Your biggest problem will be that this will only temporarily fix your leaking problems, as there is another seal in the side of the pump that will start leaking too. I ended up going the rebuilt route in the end. But you might be able to put that off for a year if you're lucky.

It's the low sulfur diesel that causes the problem eating the Nitrile rubber. The replacement Viton rubber parts will not have any issues.
