Snorkel is mandatory for any wet stuff.
Front and rear diff breathers routed high up in the engine bay.
Spray the bejesus out of anything electrical with WD40 before any bogholes & water crossings.
If it's deep enough then a tarp helps a lot.
I've never had a problem cutting out but constant mud takes it's toll on bearings, seals, clutches, starter motors (especially Paj forward facing units), alternators, A/C compressors etc.
Grease all nipples (including uni's) after water or mud crossings.
Change diff, t/case, gearbox oils more regularly.
Remove and grease brake caliper sliding pins after a mud bash to stop pads binding and wearing unevenly.
Preventative maintenance along with protection is the go.

Mud and water take such a toll on all your parts. My old truck was in the water all the time. I don't think I will ever put the new truck in water unless I have to.
