G'day guys,

Just wonder if anybody running an oil cooler on there rigs. Looking at getting one for my Gu 4.2 because i notices that my mate bearings were showing signs of blistering from high oil temps.

Just after your opinions on the coolers available eg, strength, build quality, cost and do they work.

I know of a few brands of cooler just checking to find out some other opinions.

Cheers Heath.

Try and get an adapter with a thermo bypass. Pajeros use these.

Heath, I know that PWR make a pretty comprehensive range of oil coolers but we tried to get one this week for an "under 2 litre sports sedan" and they told us they were having some problems with the furnace brazing of the cores (engine oil only) and won't be releasing any engine oil coolers till mid January when they will have fixed any problems.
I'm using a PWR auto trans cooler 280mm X 255mm X 19mm thick in series with a "generic" aux auto trans cooler. I fitted it on Saturday after having deleted the coolers in the radiator and the trans is running 20 degrees cooler already. I've mounted it behind a factory Nissan air con "pusher" fan but haven't wired it up yet, so I'm expecting it to work well when 4x4ing and being able to turn on the pusher fan manually.
My previous auto temps with generic cooler and no radiator cooling was 70-80 degrees in a normal suburban driving (no lockup on torque convertor) and it now runs at 50-60 for the same driving without the fan yet.
Regards Andrew.
