i got a 92 zooky and the steering is shit house :cry:

i dont like driving it sometimes when turn corners are nightmares im afraid that im going to hit somethink or someone sometimes.

can any help please

i'm post this because i've searches and nothing has come up

you need to describe the symptoms a little better. There are half a dozedn pionts between your fingertips and the road where problems could occur.

Is the steering loose, or is there a 'dead' spot where you turn and nothing happens, then all of a sudden it hooks in hard? Are there clunking noises? Does the steering jam? does it shimmy? speed wobbles?

More info needed.

1st and foremost ....
check the rag-joint !!!!
(its the rubbery lookin' thing between the shaft & steering box !!)
if its torn or degraded , dont drive until you replace it !!!

im not running power steering

when turing there a dead spot before the wheels turn

the steering box leaks too

your steering box is worn. Very common.

Get a replacement one from the wreckers, or local rags.

When mine started doin this (admitedly a lot worse than desribed) I used this as anexcuse to go to power steering.... One of the best mods i ever did!
If it's already been thought of...
There has to be a better way...
