Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey all,
I have done a search of the forums, but cannot find any RELEVANT information regarding the modification i wish to do.

Now, i can get my hands readily on an SC12 Supercharger (from a Toyota 4agze)
I can also easily access a Auto engineer to make all fabrication requried.

1) What i would like to know is HOW HARD is it to fit a SC12 to a G13BA engine first off?
2) Is it possible to fit the SC12 to the stock (or aftermarket e.g. Weber) carby?
3) If EFI is required or is relatively simple to convert, what parts are specifically required to convert a stock G13BA to the required spec to attach the charger.

If there is a relavant thread containing this information, could someone please provide a link, otherwise, i would be extremely grateful if some of you could point me in the right direction into this liable performance mod. I love my zook, its a great car to drive offroad, but i find that it does lack a bit of power, and i think an SC12 running a nice 8 pounds of boost will provide the answer.

BTW i was a toyota nut before buying the zook, so i know a bit about the SC12, but not enough about the G13 series.

You have some conflicting information in your post. You say G13BA but you also mention stock carby. G13BA is a 1.3 with 16v SOHC head which, AFAIK, will always have EFI. So for the purposes of my reply I will assume you mean the standard G13A that most domestic zooks come with.

Depends on how good a fabricator you are. The better you can fab the easier it will be. Considering...

I wouldn't be too worried about it. The SC12 is a fairly decent size though, so if you are having problems squeezing it in you might be able to opt for the smaller Subaru 'charger (like the one MUD4B used). Having said that, there is quite a bit of room on the passenger's side of the engine, as long as you don't have air con and/or power steer (which on a G13A is not very likely).

Yes it is, though you will need to correct the fuelling (change jets in the carb). If you can find someone willing to do this it might be your easiest (cheapest?) option.

As for the carb being able to cope with positive manifold pressure without leaking i'm not 100% sure. I do know of someone that has done pretty much what you are talking about and as far as I know the carb was stock other than the fuelling. I would suggest this would be a pretty good time to have your carb checked/rebuilt though.

As for Weber etc., dunno.

If you're going for EFI I don't think anything stock is going to provide the fuelling you need. Converting to the stock EFI is relatively painless, but in your case I don't think it would be the best solution. Something aftermarket would probably be the best way to go. At this poing things start getting expensive.

...my opinion is that you would be better off with a 1600 conversion. Less fabrication, less hassle, more reliable and more than likely less expensive.

Sorry damo but it's you that has got it wrong. a G13BA is a carby (all though it can be found as TBi in Japan, Canada and US) I have one in my car... and it's the original engine, stamped on the manufaturers plate on the firewall

G13A = 8valve SOHC 1324cc (74x77) -Found in early boxy swifts/barinas, Round vent dash Sierra's and holden drovers.
G13BA= 8valve SOHC 1298cc (74x 75.46)-Found in later model swifts/barinas and most square vent dash Sierras
G13BB= 16v SOHC 1298cc (?x?) -Found in early Suzuki Jimny and current Suzuki Carry vans EFI

Mud4b (Pic above) modified a A/C bracket to fit the Small Suburu Supercharger he used.

If your not afraid to fabricate the part then take the effort of fabbying up a Intake Manifold

My Mazda B3 8v engine(other car) has a carby manifold, the same engine is found as a Mutipoint EFi in a Ford Festiva Trio (95-97)
The heads are the same. What they do is have each injectors fit into each runner of the manifold, (most other designs including a suzuki twni cam head in my garage the injectors fit straight into the head). I bought a reconditioned head on ebay and it had the later manifold. unfortunately the spacing between the cylinders is nowhere near that of a suzuki. I will post pics tonight if i can. So you would have to discard the lower half of the manifold save the injectors. (but the top section contains the throttle boddy, throttle position sensor etc)

So if you tap an Ego sensor in the stock exhaust manifold and build an MPfi intake manifold based on the one i mentioned, add a external fuel pump. Then just need to wire in an aftermarket ecu for fueling and your there ( )

If you want a non-aftermarket ecu the bigger brother to the 1.3l B3 is the 1.5l B5 found in the same festivas. It's probably a better donor for a Junkyard Supercharger conversion as it's BorexStroke is 78mmx78mm in a similar ratio to the G13BA so the fuel maps would be the closest. (not to mention the possibility that it has bigger injectors design to flow a bigger cube engine )
