Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Over time i have accumilated some Suzuki Service Manuals and like reading through for info (actually i got multiple copies as inevitably i try to get hold of the latest print edition or one that is in better condition)

Now both my Sj413 and Sj410 have a handy chapter called 'Service Data It has a lot of info like borexstroke, tolerances, cam data etc.

My freshly aquired Vitara manual does not. I can find most of it scattered through each of the chapters but makes refering to it difficult.
I know mine is the first print... perharps other versions included it? (or is there a separte shop data sheet i could get hold of?)

it would help with things like:

g13 and g16 heads are swappable but does the bigger bore and valves of the g16 create greater head chamber volume? If so then a sierra head on a vitara would increase compression slightly and a vitara head on a sierra block would lower it.

If you overbore say a g13 block and put in the biggest size vitara pistons available bwill the compression increase as more is squeezed into the same size or do is it offset by the fact that vitara pistons aren't a tall as the sirra one....

(by the way i now have a Chevrolet/Geo Tracker factory manual with efi schematics up for sale... for those who don't knw it's a GM rebadged vitara)

Santos, are the workshop manuals you are refering to OE or the attempted copy versions? I have never found the Haynes etc. to have the correct or enough information and always prefer to spend the extra money to get the manufacturers version, especially for service data.

If the Vitara workshop is OE, what is the P/No. on the front. From memory the OE 1.6 Vitara w/s manual has a brown/white cover and I think the P/No. something like 99500-60A01 (that's probably wrong). I have found another place to gain service data is via some of the service books/CDs that are put out for mechanics by some publications. If you have a mate that is mechanic, he will know the book or disc.

Whilst you haven't actually said that it would contain the information to modifying, I am still not sure how you would get the info that you require out of the manual (even with the correct data) to help with giving the answers you need. It usually comes down to practicle experience as to what will fit what.

I have the OE suzuki manuals for G16B's up to 2001. I'll check the data sheets ASAP.

It will mainly answer the little riddles to help better in the blueprinting of parts swapping. Yes heads are swappable but are they actually identical?
Piston's fit when you overbore the block, but will it raise or lower the compression?

i agree actual experience of what fits is needed but i draw this info from this site among a number of others (a lot of cross referensing) but with the service data i can reverse mathimatically the component's (eg valve size or head volume) and start thinking on how to optimise it and reduce the negative aspects

There's a guy on e-bay who sells manuals on disc for about 10 bucks. I don't know what their like. Do a search for "suzuki sierra" on e-bay and you should see them.

Podge you are so close it's scary: 99500-60A01-01e
(noted that my other manuals have the same 99500 prefix but you weren't really wrong just missing the last 3)

I totally agree on haynes/chilton manuals being useless, i bought one once last year out of impatiance, broke the seal and was shocked at the heresy of basing a rough teardown ofa 1.3l to cover the 1.0l and the vitara's.. i argued with the clerk but when i pointed out the info was inaccurate in the parts i personally knew she came round.

(infact i would ike to know which supplement it is i need to buy that includes info on the WT/G13BA Sierra to go with my SJ413 manual 99500-83010-01e)
