2L-T Engine Work - What to do?

My 2.4 turbo Bundera has done 250,000km's with no engine work as far as i know.

I have a feeling that its getting a little tired. It rattles a little more than it used to and blows a bit more smoke than it used to. generally just doesn't go quite as well.

The injectors were cleaned around 50,000 ago, and have had regular doses or injector cleaner. Oil had been changed regularly and the turbo seems to be working properly. Theres nothing obviously wrong with it as far as i can tell. Appart from some lose tappets i'm told.

So with a small budget, what should i have done to it? I know very little about engine internals so i have no idea at all. What are the common things? whats likely to need replacing in the near future?

Not really interested in major rebuilds, just more of a major service to keep it going strong and prevent anything failing...

I'd have the valve adjustment done. Does yours have rollers or buckets and shims.? Incorrect valve adjustment will not be good for the engine if left as is.

had them done when i first got it, i think it was $400 from memory.

I have a feeling they weren't too bad though, very slight improvement but not worth $400.

I had recently done my nown bundy 2.4 turbo tappets. Mine were out a bit sucks alot more air with them done. $400 seems a bit steep only took me a hour taking my time gasket retails for about $22
