sorry for the noob type question
can someone who actually knows for certain if the 4.2 is direct inject?

well i assume the factory TD is direct, the DX is indirect
can some one verify.

ok

can someone offer an answer then to this:
every now an then i hear about 4.2's on high boost, how does this take place, how do they not blow the pre-combustion camber up?

The compression ratio stays the same regardless.

If you want to run the Turbo at a high pressure to get more air into the combustion chambers(which is the whole idea of a turbo), you reduce the compression ration to alow more space between the cyclinder head and the top of the piston at TDC to force more air in.

High boost with a N/A compression ratio will result in failure in time.

With the TD 42 engine, it is engineered to be very under stressed to some 20 or 30% from what i ahve read.
This being the case the, the standard engine can handle up to around 18PSI easily before problems arise.

thanks Pete

so its just the fact the engine is as tough as nails.
