LPG PROB WILL NOT START WHEN WARM/HOT

Hi All,

I have a 91 carby LPG GQ. Lately when it has been running on LPG and is warm to hot (it is not overheating or losing coolant) it sometimes will not start on LPG. It keeps turning over but refuses to start. When I flick it on petrol it starts 1st go. This does not happen when cold.

Any thoughts from the gurus and ideas on costs to get someone to sort it?

Cheers

I was having the same problem with my GU patrol. Mine would not start on a hot day after it was left in the sun, but once running i could often hit the LPG switch a few times and get it to switch over. I found the problem, which turned out to be dirty/sticking solenoid valve on the tank. When the engine is running and the alternator putting out 14.2 volts there was enough voltatge for the solenoids to overcome the gas pressure, but not during startup (less than 12 volts). I fitted larger gauge wires to the solenoid and replaced the old one. Problem fixed. The larger gauge wires help stop voltage drop to the solenoid.
