Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Anybody used these? Any feedback on them? Do the come loose or stay tight?

Any other brands people would recomened?

Cast steel spacers expand at the same rate as the rest of the components (rotor/drum etc) throughout the warmup/cooldown operating cycle, whereas the aluminium spacers have a different coefficient of expansion to the rotor/drum material, therefore these (aluminium) expand/contract more during the warmup/cooldown operating cycle. Sometimes on the aluminium spacers the wheel lock nuts can loosen due to this large expansion/contraction (but not on all rigs). A real pain in the arse to get to the nuts behind the rim if they come loose, but a real danger if you want to use them on the street (no manufacturer recommends you use them on the street (officially), but they are usually made fairly accurate so you can) and they come loose or even fall off. Wheel spacers are great in that they give you more options for the width you want.

I would go cast steel. CORE make cast spacers, PM me if you want some details.

Jeremy (surfection from this board) runs snake racing spacers and has had no probs with them. they r a well made spacer also i plan on getting some 2: ones soon.

also Dave from this board runs them on his gold runna on the street and has 4 ages and as far as im aware he has had no probs at all altho i not sure wot brands daves r..

I run 2 inch spacers on my lux and have never had any problems with them.

Thanks guys, they will be going on my 80 and possibly be staying on full time. So would the cast steel be better for this purpose?

What sort of $ diff are we talking about from the cast steel to alloy?

$$ aint a factor here i wood go the cast jobs then u will have no probs.

Here's a couple of pics of my Snake Racing spacers. I run 3" in the front and 1.5" in the rear, to equal the diffs out. I'm 99% sure they're billet steel and the studs are AU falcon. Certianly makes a big difference on and off road... and definatly saved the Hypolux on at least one occasion, aye ben !!

They must put a bit more stress on your swivel bearings surely?

YEP, but i'd rather have more stress on the bearings than either buy wider diffs or be a narrow arse that's tippy in the bush !!!

Nah phil, i'm gonna sell them with the surf.... i made mention to ben cause he ran them for 4 or 5 trips [along with my tyres ] while the surf was of the road.

yeah thay saved my ass on a few occasions altho my truck did get tooo sleepy 1 time with them on......

The real reason it didnt tip over is coz I am sitting on the wheel holding the balance!

Ben have you been up there lately, someone has started a new harder line to the left of that big rock that catches everyones sill. I didn't drive that line on Sat but I wouldn't mind givin it a go in a couple of weeks after the bobbed tray and new suspension

Is that Cutrock in the Watagans Thats the weekend I'll be fitting and welding my tray. I would be keen early Sept. I would like to organize a night drive up Slippery Rock & Rope road next month before it gets graded, or we could always drive the Mount Sugerloaf harder tracks the Widowmaker, Queensland gate, the steps and a couple of other unnamed ones with some filthy rock ledges in them. I know Hypolux spoke of a new track that my be harder again
