I believe it is on the output on the Dizzy. I take it is the 4ag twincam and not the 4afc?
PM drew if now or even redzook might know as he is running a 4agze
cheers

What vehicle is it in? is it the original motor in there or is this a transplant.
Possible that the orig tach is from a efi motor that might need a different pickup. there are two that i can think of. My old corolla had a 4afc. carb 4a. tach output came off dizzy and worked fine on my old 2" aftermaket tach. make sure u got power to the tach also.
thanks

it's a second engine, but i THINK it's the same type of motor. the engine number on the VIN plate is 4AG, which apparently means it was a twin cam, but the service manual says that there is no way a twin cam was in that trim level.
the motor in it now isdefinately a single cammer.
power to the tacho is good, tach works on my fj40... just not off the corolla.
i've tried neg terminal of the coil, the output wire from the dizzy, and the "tach" wire from the ECU... and none work properly
it's an aftermarket tach...
