Outer Limits 4x4 Board

hey all

what i want to know is can i put a 33X12.50/15 on a 15X7 rim i know its common practice but if i did what effects would it have other than a buldging side wall. also what would be the biggest tyre i could get to. the tyres are going to be mudders

Different tyres can be put on smaller rims than specified but is never really recommended...
If you are going to air down, there is also the risk of the tyre popping off the rim and hard offroad work is likely to do this.
I wouldn't go anything below an 8" rim for a 12.5" wide tyre.. esp a mudder...
The recommended width is around 10".

The size of tyre you can fit is determined by your type of car.. Can you enlighten us on this?

If you are going to be buying a set of 33" or greater... the cost of rims is as cheap as chips.. get steelies for well under 100 each
What sort of tyres were you thinking of getting?

thats what i thought too the truck is a 84 rangie with some slight mods.

i found some 15X7 sunnys for it for cheap so thought could get bigger rubber but thats cool will stick with the 31s or get some 32X11.50 goodyears mtr

my tyre choice as they need to do some on road drivin but dont care bout how much noise they make where maxxis, kumho, goodyear or pro comp
but what ever is at the right price

There's a few threads around where Simex are given a good wrap.. They are 31" and can be picked up for about $160 each. Also, the Mongrels come in a 32" and are a monoform type tyre i think and can be picked up cheaper still.

Some people like the Motorway tyres which are monoforms or retreads and sorta copy popular brand tyre patterns but are very good in price. Although there is always the safety factor with retreads.

My fave are Goodyear MTR.. I'm getting a set of 31" very soon

Some of the guys on here will give you personal experiences of running what width tyres on what rims and then u can decide.
