Hi Guys
I have an ARB that wouldn't unlock, even with the hose off the diff, removed diff head and cracked inner pipe from bulkhead fitting and air released, diff free. There is a one way fitting in there which, if I recall, is to dump the air in the housing to prevent any oil going up the air line and it was sticky. I seem to remember ARB withdrawing these from the market with problems can anyone confirm this please.

yes there called a puge valve and there designed to hold a residule pressure of about 8 PSI in the line between the purge valve and the air locker , and that is designed in there to keep the seals in the air locker pressed out but not enough to activate the locker...

the purge valves are rebuildable and adjustable i'ed jist clean it out or even take it out of the system and run a direct line from the compressor solonid to the air locker

hope this helps a little

I had it happen once after doing a big burnout and the bituman with out locking the locker first, the spider gears built up so much heat with only one wheel spinning that two of the spider gears that are on the one cross shaft welded them selves to the shaft and seized resuslting in a permanant locker. It stuffed the locker, they have more clearance in them now and it isnt so common, this did happen about 15 years ago.
