To work it out with a 285/75R16.
285 - Sectional Width
75 - Aspect Ratio / gives you the height of the sidewall in relation to the sectional width
16 - Rim diameter in inches.

Take the 285 and divide by 25.4 which will give you the width in inches... 11.22".

Get the over all diameter by...
285x75%= 213.75mm- this gives you the overall height of the sidewall
213.75x2= 427.50mm- as there are 2 sidewalls in the makeup of the overall diameter.
16x25.4=406.4mm converts the rim diameter from inches to mm.
406.4+427.5= 833.9mm : This is the Overall Diameter.
833.9/25.4=32.83".
So the 285/75R16 in Imperial measurement (rounded off) is 33x11.25R16.

I have all this punched into an excel spreadsheet that I mocked up a while ago. All you have to do is punch in the tyre size and it spits out all the info that I usually get asked. PM me if you want it.

Cheers,
Ryano
