hey, just finding out for my dad,he has no computer. he has a mq swb patrol sd33 and has had a ute cab to go on it for about 2 years now, rust panelwork and all is now ready. just a bit of interior. when its put on the chassis does it just have to go checked for body mounts and the new tray mounts or what.where do you go for this??? Also his sd33 is a bit rooted but he would like to stay with a diesel. anyone know of any cheap in good con???we have a petrol motor l28 just been rebuilt with extractors but doesnt wanna use it if he can help.if you change motors is it just the same, get mounts checked and numbers changed on papers???itd be great for some info, thankyou

if your replacing a motor, with the same spec motor its as straight forward as doing a blue slip and then going to the RTA for the rego paper updates,
if your replacing with a different motor from the same vehicle, say going from SD33 to L28, you may have to modify mounts, so these will need to be checked, then the will do the blue slip, with brake test just to be sure, then off to the RTA,
well thats how it is in NSW

is it right that you just go get the body inspected. cos we now have the body ready to go on. the mounts are all the same from the look of things. would the bought Rhino body lift be right to have in for this inspection or not???? any info would be great fellas

If you change the motor...... from SD33 to L28, you are going down in capasity and its an original motor so you shouldnt need engineers... will definatly need Blue slip then RTA.
with the cab.... you can bolt a ute cab on , and yes they are the same mounts. and you wont need engineers.......
BUT with the tray, the tray has to be bolt on... if you have welded it with plates it should be engineered.....
But basically from what you have said...
Bolt the ute cab on, put a tray on, blue slip it as a ute rather than a hard top which it is.... then change it with the RTA with the blue slip to a ute, and also the change of colour needs to be dont at RTA also....
When i did my engineers report... the ute body IS mentioned on the report... but i dont think it needed to be, you should be ok with a blue slip, check for rust etc... tell them they are orignal mounts and its the same body just a cab and make a tray should be ok.
the motor will be the headache one as you may need engineers......

thanks for that, so even if the l28 mounts up to the same mounts on the chassis,,does it, it still needs engineering???????????? and also u said the tray will need engineering if welded on, can u make a setup so that it all just bolts,no welded mounts to chassis??????? the tray base has been made, just bracketry, mounts left, the cab is rust fixed, sound deadened and rust proofed, will be white like his old cab and so on. has a body lift for it but doesnt know if he should leave it out til after the reports and so on,,any ideas. for the record screwy your truck looks phat in 4wd monthly, top work but dads a bit pissed hes had the idea for years but never got it done hahaha. any advice is muchly appreciated fellas.

Engine mounts for the diesel are in a differant place on the chassis compared to the L28

oh ok thanks for that. well the cab is on a petrol chassis at the moment so it might be best to stick to that then and get a whole blue slip done, not just a partial for the engine swap and cab n so on. is this right???? thanks
