So your already talking about spending $5k-10 modding it... Wouldnt you have been better off waiting and buying a 4.2 in the first place instead of rushing into it?barnsey wrote:I wanted a 4.2, but this Patrol came up at a good price, and it's 100% immaculate. I'm thinking down the track, I'd like to do a transplant
So what your saying is, your happy with the power? no, your saying your unhappy with itbarnsey wrote:bogged wrote:So your already talking about spending $5k-10 modding it... Not as bored as I was in the Tableland a few weeks ago having to climb hills in 2nd gear.
So really even though your talking Strictly hypothetical at this stage........ what your really saying is your unhappy with the power, and want more, so you should have waited and got the 4.2 or other donk in the first place - correct?
have a nice day
Its an easy swap but leaving the 4.6 gears in it will make the 4.2 rev at about 2650 at 100 in 5th Also you can keep the shafts if you keep the same transfer I kept mine as the outer part of the flange is smaller and wont get knocked around as much on rocks and the likes. Also a good sparky can wire the glow plug timer from the 4.2 into the 2.8 computer module (in the drivers kick panel) If you change the transfer then just change the flanges and handbrake drum to the new transfer. If you get a complete motor make sure the trottle cable and hand throttle cable is with it as they are diffrent If ya got any other Qs just shoot me a Pm as i did the swap in mine about 2 years ago and wow what a diffrence(i got a shwitzer turbo as well) and never looked back (hence not2.8)
