gday mate,
What was your old pos?
for a new toy i would reccomend something toyota. theyare strong, easily modifed, plus parts a readily availiable and cheap. what ever you go for make sure its got a solid front end. you will save your self many hassles.
hope that helps
Mark

thx m8 for the advice, my current 4wd is a 'asia rocsta' with all its 1.6L diesel fury....
its just totally gutless, ive been to moreton island and had cooling problems and lack of power... time to upgrade to something bigger/stronger

yep. Nissan Patrol. I own 1 and a 4runner. Nissan parts are generally cheaper than toyota.

How big a vehicle do you need?
For that sort of money I'd go a GQ Patrol, about the same standard as the Toyotas of the same era and you'll get more for money.

Dont rule out a Prado or Pajero. A '96 Pajero will leave you some money for a bullbar and a full service. Bit more to buy a Prado. But there are lots of these two around that have had an easy life.
My mostly stock '94 Pajero has taken me to, Cape york, Flinders, Couple of Vic High country tripes, plus all through the Brindies and this year weather willing, Tassie. Oh and has towed a few race cars and horses.
