Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Can anyone tell me what ratios were available from the factory on 80 series cruisers, especially high pinion fronts?

Im aware of 4.11, but im hoping there is a 4.3 out there, ive searched here and elsewhere cant seem to find any info.

4.11 and 4.1 in other series cruisers

Some Bundies came out with the 4.3 not sure if diesel or petrol model but its a hi-pinion in the front and fits 80/100's

I was wondering that, i know the rj70 comes in a 4.3, wasnt sure if it would fit into a 80 housing, thats what i wanted to hear

do you mean the 80 rear is different sized? i know, this is going in a lux hence the need for 4.3 ratio. I may later on down the track put an 80 series housing up front, just want to make sure i get a diff centre that will go in rather than have to buy it later on again, just wasnt sure if the bundera centres could fit, it seems 80, bundera and lux front centres are all interchangable.

The rear can be matched ! A 100 series rear centre can be fitted with minimal grinding of the housing to clear the wider crownwheel and side gear change to suit 30 spline axles. 100 series have nice big gears in the rear to boot.

arent the 100s diffs prone to breakage more so than the 80s? or is it just the standard pinion spacer thats making them fail? im thinking 100s parts are going to be a bit more expensive being newer aswell.

I never said 100 front diffs were tough i was refering to the rears what they lost in the front they made up for in the rear. As a general rule to lower the diff ratio the pinion is made smaller as the crown wheel cant get much bigger, usually the the pinion that lets go first, the less teeth on the pinion the more pressure on the contacting teeth and " BANG " In the case of the 100 rear diff the pinion has remained the same size as the 80 rear pinion, the crown wheel is about 1/2 inch bigger and moved across ( thats why you need to grind the cut outs in the housing to fit it ). The gears have a massive contact area at least twice that of a 4.1 cruiser rear diff. Thats why i made the statment that 100 rear diffs are tough.
