Rubber or Poly for a Hilux?

Post by hilux_1990 »

Hey guys

All these wiz-bang suspension kits come with poly bushes and it seems that polyurethane is the way to go when it comes to upgrading the old truck...
though, a few posts around here suggest that rubber is better than poly.

I'm not modifying the suspension yet but I need to get new bushes for the IFS front end of my hilux, and then the rest of the suspension/body mount bushes on the truck at a later date.

So is poly or rubber the way to go? why is one better than the other? (cheaper, greasable, long-lasting poly bushes do sound tempting!) and where to get them in Melbourne?

thanks

Poly is longer wearing because it is harder.
Harder = rougher ride and also = less flex.
I have been playing around with rubber bushes on my lux using greasable shackles and pumping them rubber grease.
Seems to be working well for me.
Bushes dont cost heaps anyway I would rather use rubber and replace them every couple of years than poly.
