i just bought a 2000 gu ute 4.2td on coils, and have noticed some small rust spots coming through the cills. also the whole underside of the car has been sprayed with body deadener. i reckon it has been submerged or was a mine vehicle. what would my options be?? would pouring fish oil into the cills, doors and chassis help? or am i rooted???
cheers

ive got an ex-mine unit, at the moment im still driving it. i will be replacing the chassis when i can get one good enough. sills, ya stuffed, i tried a few things but theres just too much shit in there to clean out properly, im gonna cut them out and replace them. pull ya interior out and clean it, i cleaned my fuel tanks out too. i found some small spots of rust in the firewall and got on to them before it got too far.
i bought mine direct from the mine, so i knew what i was getting myself into, i hope you didnt get screwed. Have a look at WHITWIZARD's members thread, you will see how we did a chassis swap to his ex-mine ute

Guys
Yours is the only country I`ve heard of fish oil being used to rust proof steel. Only thing we ever used it in UK for was release agent for concrete shutters. Where and how do you buy it in OZ. We have tiny wee bottles of Pilchard oil that some guys dip their bait in for fish attractor but other than that I`ve only seen beer bottle sizes of stuff in Chinese outlets but not sure if it`s fish sauce

Is there not salt in the fish oil?

i did get a bit screwed with the corrosion but i could not see any signs when i was looking at the car. i did get it for a good price though, 21k for a 4.2td coils, bullbar 99000km. what would you expect to pay for the chassis??? would it help if you could get into the cills to oil/rustproof them?? LEXI: fish oil is available at panel beating suppliers sometimes in a spray can.
