I got a set of lightforce 240 blitz for chrissy, but there is no way to mount the inside the arb (i think)bulbar, they only poke out maybe an inch or two, and also what is the difference b/w the blitz and xgt, or are they the same

I had to make a bracket (well just a piece of steel sheet) to fit them flush with the front of my 75 ARB bar.

The XGT's use the HID housing, the focus isn't adjustable, the mounting is in a different position and (the mounting) is stronger. Also have a plug for the loom, not wires hanging out the back like the blitz.

I'd have to make a bracket anyway, but the sheer size doesn't allow them to fir in

can you cut the tube section in the middle so you have just the top tube running over the top ? you could have them sticking out a touch but it is illegal and if you get busted you've only got to do it properly the second time.

whatever you do get em on there as they hammer the darkness.

me thinks that the depth of the bar istself is the issue??? ie they will hit the grill b4 they clear the front of the bar? they are pretty tough, go to the feild days thdn they will let ya hit them with a sledge hammer so unless you plan to hit trees you will be ok with them sticking out alittle, othewise bend up a bit of 1" tube from the bottom of the bar to the top tube or something like that to protect them

If they stick out a little it is generally not illegal...

This is from the RTA site:
"Minor protrusions forward of the bull bar or bumper bar such as a spotlight, or fairleads required for the operation of a winch, where the mounting brackets do not protrude, are permitted providing the protrusion is the minimum necessary and is blunt or protected to minimise any risk of injury to vulnerable road users."

So the lense of a spotlight... as long as you have it mounted right up against the grille wont cause much of a problem with the law...
The only problem is if you start nudging stuff.. coz they will hit the trees etc first.. not the bullbar. But they are quite strong as people have said.

nah i thimk the depth is alright, but i think i will have to have them poking out a little. I thought about above the bar, but even though they look sick i doubt it would be very practicle to fix the non range rover stuff under the bonnet

You can't have any lights on top of your bullbar that block any part of forward vision.. i.e the road ahead.
So if you can see the top of your bullbar past your bonnet when you're driving.. you cant put lights on top of it.

not totally true - again depends on who you talk to, and what day of the week it is, and if mars is in line with youranus.

3 odd yrs back I asked engineer about my 2x rally 2000's I had on top of my bar when I had the suspension, tires etc passed, he said as long as they arent blocking an object X (3 rings a bell) mtrs infront of the vehicle while in a normal driving seated position, its ok. He then rattled off a few laws and their sub paragraphs etc.

I asked what is "an object".. he couldnt answer that, so that could be a car, person, or a 1cent piece .. one of them clear laws.

I spose the law can be interpreted in different ways...

It is illegal to have:
"Any bull bar or other attachment that does not allow the driver a view of the road and of the traffic to the front and side of the vehicle so that the driver can drive the vehicle safely."

There is a loophole in the fact that the safety of the matter will be varied for each driver and each person who inspects the vehicle.

It doesn't say a complete view of the road.. just one which is safe.. so its deemed by the driver or person who books you i spose
