turbo vains

can someone tell me if the vains on the 4.2 td 1999. GU are veriable or just fixed? It seems to hold back between 2200-3000 revs when foot flat then its ok.

check ur fuel filters and fliter on the injector pump

over xmas I put a three inch exhaust on,changed all the filters and gave it a service but no change with that problem. did go better with new exhaust. WHERE IS THE ONE ON THE PUMP?

There is a small "thimble" filter inside the banjo fitting on the fuel intake line of the injector pump.
Gets clogged and needs cleaning. I had this same problem where there was a hestitation between 2500-3000rpm. Eventually mine wouldn't even rev higher than 3000rpm until it was cleaning. Straight away revved all the way to 4500rpm.

thanks but I don't think there is one on my injector pump, it looks like it just goes straight in. no filter, no banjo fitting.

there should be a banjo fitting, or nothign would be holding your fuel lines on

I found the banjo fitting but there is no filter in it. this is the one on the front of the injector pump.

Not all injector pumps have the filter, but if it does, then its under the spring beneath the banjo fitting. Usually have to hook it out with a bent over cable-tie or similar.
