:? wat... why??? they are basically the same... only older rangie diffs are 10 spline as opposed to the newer disco 24 spline....

Just quote him for some Maxi Drive lockers and axels or McNamara lockers and axels and tell him/her that's the best option.

Like AnthonyP said...they are pretty much the same.

as micka said best option beside a total diff swap (gq or gu patrols) is the maxi drive gear. Its expensive but if he want no fuss you gotta pay for it.

OR (this might not be a feasible option as i beleive haultech in QLD do the installs and your located in VIC)

if it is a 24spline (axles) disco get intouch with Haultech Engineering reguarding their electronic traction control, its been well proven and is about 90% effective (only a locker will get you that extra 10%).
Its easier on the drivetrain and cost half as much as the maxi drive locker/axle upgrade.
They can be contacted on 07 5546 3589.
Doesn't hurt to call ;)

Cheers

That would be an awesome option, actually.

Heaps better on CVs and only bettered by twin lockers....just. The Lockless Monster competed in Tuff Truck last year using the Haultech Traction Control in a Defender driven by RUFF. It did have a Toyota diff conversion and McNamara axels too, but as far as traction and difficulty of terrain is concerned, the HTC kicks arse.

Its just like every other traction control only fine tuned and it actually works excellent.

I am sure one of the current user will chime in and give you the run down but in the mean time look at these threads ;)
