Hey All,

Ive had a quick search and didnt turn up much except that back in 2003 the goodyears didnt come into Aus unless sourced privately?

Are they available now?

Ive always run BFG mudders in the past, but for some reason im being drawn to look of the goodyear's!!

anyone got good/bad comments for both or run both on thier cars?

anyone know the price difference on 315/75/16's?

Im running them on a petrol 80 series, not that it matters much.

any help is glady appreciated,

if your running mainly rock go the mtrs.

if your running mainly mud go the BFGs

another thing to keep in mind is sidewall strength and my own personal opinion is the BFGs are just not strong enough these days.

I would choose the mtrs (but i never really ever drive in mud)

I have never used them but did give them a good look and enough research to conclude this:

1) they have a thick sidewall which is good for puncture resistance but you have to let out a lot of air for them to start to bag well 12-14psi(more chance of rolling it off the rim), this ive noticed on my mates gu and while he is happy with them he wont get them again.

2) have a real soft compound which is great for moulding over rocks when crawling.

3) the tread pattern is somewhat closed compared to a muddy or claw and they do tend to clog easily when the ground becomes damp.

4)while they have a good reputation as a rock crawling tire due to its soft compound ive wittnessed them struggle when u try to climb a muddy rocky track. id like to know where all the rock tracks are bone dry.

5) A mate with them on his 80 basically said "dont bother"

6) have heard mixed reviews about longevity with some getting 70k and others only 40 but i got the same info when i got my claws.(i'll only get 40k max out of the but i cane then everywhere and i will get them again 4sure)

7)i have seen some trucks go well with them and others battle - all depends on how you drive your truck and type of tracks you do

8) having used the muddies, i believe they are the best all round mud terrain radial tires on the market. i chose the claws as i wanted something a tad more extreme and they work for me on my 80 but maybe not you.

i have used both tyres and still am using both tyres

getting side wall punctures can happen to any tyre its just luck of the draw
i've punctured my MTRs but i'd never done the BFGs

MTRs work well in the wet on rocks also great all round tyre on the loose stuff as well ... will be ok for light mud work

BFGs are ok on dry rocks and dry loose dirt trails etc and work well in the mud

I've had the MTRs and I havnt tried the BFG but I do go to the Cooper ST and the MTR shits on it every possible way.

I had the 315/75/16 I got excellent wear from the MTR and handled better on road and offroad then the cooper.

I know someone who has the BFG and they arent as good as the MTR for road and rock as they chip and puncture.

MTR is also cheaper but if you seriously need a mud terrain i would suggest get a purpose tyre and choose the MTR for road duties and casual play and for the harder stuff get some simex or something more aggresive.

Alot of slippery wet rocks n mud is generally what I'm driving in here, with half my use being on road.

The MTR have got that horny look about them tho,

But im 90% sure i'll go buy the BFG Muds!

I had the old school BFG MT, then went MTR, then stupidly got talked into new BFG's (MTRs werent available at the time).

The NEW MTs are pretty bad in the wet on the road IMO, Round abouts are a bit of a challenge now compared to the MTRs.
MTR's never let me down in the bush or on the road, they were 33/12.5/15's and cant wait to get em again.

If I could get the OLD skewl MT's new I'd get them over the newer ones..

Id heard some people talk about the ond and new muddies from BFG, are you meaning since the started having the sidewall lugs aswell, or from when they are made in Japan or something now instead of the USA??

i've had no dramas on wet roads with the BFGs and i've got a heavy foot
