Hi,
The steering in my 40 series has gone to sh/t. It takes about a full turn of the steering wheel before it actually starts turning. Im not sure how to go about fixing this. Do I tighten the draglink? Could it be something to do with the tie rod? Is my steering box rooted? Its off the road at the moment as its too dangerous driving it on road how it is. Can anyone help?

I have a complete system spare left over from changing to power steering. To suit an FJ 40

I found the best way to find the cause of the excess play is to get someone else to turn the steering wheel side to side. Open the bonnet, start with steering shaft, look and follow the mechanisms until you find point/s where things stop moving, or don't move enough. Can be a combo of almost all the components if it hasn't been overhauled lately/ever.
