Lifted leaf lengths???

OK, I got asked a question the other day and wasn't too sure of the answer... so.....

Are lifted leaf springs marginally longer in length (eye to eye along the curve)than stocko ones?? eg: are 50mm lifted springs longer than standard springs???

I know it's a basic question but wasn't sure myself.

no, not always. they sometimes arch the crap out of a flat leaf that's the same length as stock. usually pretty cheap kits. they are the ones you see inverting shackles all the time, or that have really shocking shackle angles.

I used to think this also until I went shopping for lifted leaf springs and was told by a few suppliers that their main spring lengths are the same as stock.
I was told the reasons for it but I dont remember. I think it was something about them fouling the opposite way of inverting.

I suppose thats why they make anti-inversion shackles
Old Man Emu is one that uses same as stock lengths but they supply anti-inversion shackles as well.
