Outer Limits 4x4 Board

can someone tell me when the aussie swb's went to the 1.3 engine?
its probably in my manual but i dont have it handy..
the reason i ask is that ive got one of the later (longer) 1lt maruti gearboxes, but i have an 83 body, and now i want to work out what models/years the gearbox will fit.

Mines an 83 LWB and was a 1.o 4speed.
I got my 1.3 engine and 5speed out of a late 84 LWB.
Early 84's were I think 1.0's
I belive same is true for SWB's.
I did have a later 1.0 4speed box, it looked very similar to a 1.3 in the way it mounted. I sold it as if I was making a heap of changes, I may as well go 1.3.

that could be true, but I haven't looked under a swb too often.

If you get the jack shaft from a maruti, maybe that would do it.

I think the gearbox mount is similar to a 1.3 which has a crossmember totally diffent to the 1.o.

Not sure if Motor and Box bolt together or not?

This is only educated guess work, and 2nd hand info, tho.

The 1.3l 5sp was released to Australia 11/84. Suzuki still ran a 1.0l variant in that time up until 86. This is the type 3 1.0l, it has a plastic dash similar to 1.3l and this is the model which has the longer gearbox and similar internals to a 1.3l. Therefore the longer gearbox suits 11/84+ 1.0l models and all Marutis.
