Hi,

I have just had a g52 rebuilt by the guys at Western Gearbox and diff (@ Penrith) and all up it cost just over $1100 , including the labour to remove and replace from the vehicle. If you can R+R it yourself it could be cheaper. I suggest your ring around. If you are in the Sydney region there are aslo some guys up near Hornsby that are also very good, forget the name though.

best of luck

Not a hilux, I have an 86 RJ70 Bundera, when I bought it 5th gear was gone so I had the box rebuilt. The G52 is a sweet little box, but in all honesty it is really more of a slop box than a gear box. When I get around to it I will eventually fit an R150 from a diesel bundera with an adapter for the Bellhousing from Marks 4wd.
You should probably investigate the heavy duty dyna box available through Marks, specifically for Hilux/surfs/forerunners, if you are going down the path of rebuild or replace.

let us know how you go

Stick with the R150F from the Bundy. The HD Dyna box from Marks is nothing more than a 2WD R452 sloppily converted to 4WD. Ask both ToyRex (on this forum) and Marlin about them.

In fact the gear sets from the Dyna can be fitted into a R150F/R151F (those with the 160 mm input shaft) to give you a 5.13:1 ratio 1st gear.
