Bundy Efi Turbo question

Hi guys,

About 6months ago I had a engine conversion in Bundy. It now has a rebuilt 22RE. Lately I had major efi problems and changing the ecu, afm etc didnt solve the problem.

Anywayz I have got sick of trying to fault find the problem. I had a mate whos a auto elect and a electronic engineer have a look and got them buggered. So i decided to run aftermarket mangement and I bought a brandnew Wolf 3d Version4.

Hopefully this will solve the problem.

Anyway I am thinking about down the track doing something different and turbocharging my 22RE.

I just need to know what the standard compression ratio is in a 22RE?
Also Im thinking of only running 7 or 8psi.
Should the standard head gasket be able to cope?
Should it be ok to run boost on this engine as I think its 9:5 anyway. Or will I need a decompression plate.

Sorry for the long post
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Cheers
Doddy

if you dont exceed 7 ps1 (.5bar) you should be fine but make sure it is tuned for the boost also have you considered a toyota blower from one of those 1gtze motors can pickem up for about 3hunge suitable for up to 4 litre

Standard 22R and 22RE compression is 9.0:1
If you can find a 22R-TE compression is 7.5:1 it is a different block, head and crank and very hard to find in Australia, although common in USA.

If I was you I would call some engine workshops and speak to them as to whether or not the standard head and gasket will be able to handle it

Originally I was going to go a supercharger like a toyota sc14 but probably wouldnt be the efficent because the 22r is a big 4 cylinder.
Also there is messing around with brackets and pulleys.

I can get a custom manifold made and have a more responsive and power output engine going turbo. It should also create boost very quickly.

I was originally going to use a Garett T25g like off a nissan sr20det but they guy whos installing the wolf, thinks this might be abit too small for the capacity of the 22re being 2.4 litres. He Suggests using a Garett Gt-28R or something like that.

Can you give me any advice what Turbo I could use or whether he seems right??
