The MQ power steering box is sweet and the hoses are sweet... the pump works fine but doesnt push the big tyres and im not happy with its performance.
I dont want hydro steer or assist on this rig.
just something that will help my cause.... thinking a biger power steer pump on the same MQ box?
wats reccomended??? would a commodore or similar be better or whats a big pump i can just go to pirtek and get the fittings changed for the hoses..... ???

You could have your box modified to give more pressure.
I have seen the ‘how to's ‘on this mod for off road use, in short there is a bypass spring that can be replaced with heavy duty one or shimmed. The result is it sends more pressure to your P/S box before is it bypassed back to the pump.

You could possibly fit some small washers or spacers behind the spring to increase the pressure ?

You could increase the pressure of existing or find a higher pressure one but will the box handle it? Go down to super crap and filck through the gregories manuals looking for vn-vt v6 commodores, falcons etc common as shit stuff that you'll pick up for $15 and find the highest pressure and flow one available. Bodge up a bracket and fittings and go for broke. Is heat an issue? These days cars have cooling on the psteer fluid because a psteer setup has the pump running full noise (wasting power) the whole time while the rack/box is just relieving the pressure. I believe now some manufacturers are using an electric clutch like a/c to get economy.

I fitted a (saginaw) Commodore pump on a toyota though and seems to have plenty of presure as Brett S said they may be worth a look

If its the spring in the steering box, will a bigger pump make any difference?

I grabbed my pump off a 6 cylinder vb-vk Commodore and used the Chev factory mounting brackets, had to get the pulley swapped over to get the belt to line up. Only problem I have is that the return line barb hits on the block slightly because it was originally on a inline 6.
Same as the one bj42turbo used

the barb should be removable, if so swap it for a 90 degree 1.
last thing you need is for the line to rub through.

The barb is brazed/soldered into the reservoir. It isn't going to rub through in a hurry, the MK has been off the road for about a year, gotta get the gearbox fixed one day.
I'll mod the barb one day...

The saginaw pump off the old dunnydores are the same of the kingswoods . the bombadore ones have a metric thread ( apparently) and the kingswoods have imperial. Jags runs the same pump .
A seal kit can be had for $50 last time i bought one.
