looking into putting a DTS turbo onto a 94 hilux 2.8. The vehicle has done 240000 kms on original engine. Is there any problems that anyone knows of with either the DTS turbo, or putting one on? The car has been looked after really well, oil every 5000kms, no smoke blown!
cheers

Put it on, it will be fine. Talk to Phippsy as he has my old turbo which is a DTS from memory. (they changed their name since I bought it)

save up for a new clutch as a turbo on a old clutch usually finishes it off faster than usual
due to the extra bit of get up n go

Get your injectors checked/replaced, your pump looked at, boost compensator fitted and EGT guage to make the most of it

Bolt it up. Put on a boost controler and wind up to 13 - 15 PSI. Crank up the fuel mix. Replace the clutch with a heavy duty one. Direct Clutch in Brizzy do a really good one. Had mine set like this for over 3 years. Only problem blew a gearbox towing my comp hilux up a range.

would not go to 15psi if you drive it dailly will shorten the life and could blow the bottom end. I run mine at 10 psi and i would only go to 15psi if i ran 35s and only adjustable so on the street change back to 33s and 10 psi

Still running the same clutch in mine, turbo has been on for the last 3 years. It compensates for my lack of gearing offroad as well!!
so it cops a beating.
Im running at about 11-12 psi, highest EGT is about 550c (steep hill in 5th).
