Mine is full checker plate. I like it coz i can use the full trailer to carry stuff but it does make it a bit heavier.

Mine had full checker, makes it had to clean/paint, rough on the knees & elbows when you have to crawl under the car on trailer, also leaves little dents in soft race tyres.

Heavy duty expanded mesh in the treads and center front third, and the ramps (also HD expanded mesh) slot into the center section for the rear 2/3.

I've noticed a lot of guys in the US recommend timber so you don't get burnt on a hot summers day when you have to lie on it.

Just another option....

Mount a spares/toolbox between the axles which can't be opened with the vehicle on the trailer, secure storage with good weight distribution.

Sam's old trailer which towed the mog was full timber deck - didn't have any problem with weight - if you wanted timber you could easily make it strong enough

Strength isn't an issue the car can be transported on the trailer with no flooring

I like the idea of the tool box

I like the trailer where you drive over the wheel arches.

This means the trailer is no wider then the floor

You could incorporate a toll box of sorts between the arches. So it looks like one big wheel arch the full width of the trailer :D

Thats how I plan to make mine this year....as the one thing I hate about towing a car trailer is how god dam wide it is....I want the trailer to be exactly the same width as the 4runner....
