Fuel Consumption

Hey Everyone,
As seen in my first few posts, I am looking at getting my first 4x4.
I am only spending about 7-9K and have always loved Hilux's, I am also very keen on getting a deisel for the fuel consumption side of things.
My question is, does anyone have any stats on fuel consumption for various models of 4x4?
I understand deisel goes further and the engines last longer (good for my circumstance and budget) but would a Landcruiser/Patrol 7 seater on deisel still cost me a fortune to run?
