Better to lengthen them by an inch or so, below the "S" bend.

The gear lever does not require bending at all. the transfer shoud be cut half way through just above the pivot point and bent forward about 10 cm & rewelded. i have done this on many nissans

If you are going to bend them make sure you pack lots of wet rags around the base of the stick before you fire up the oxy as there are rubber bushes that absorb vibrations from the road inside the stick which will perish if they get too hot. Cut and reweld would probably be easier and less time consuming. Even if you cant do it yourself a 4wd specialist or engineer should'nt charge much as there are no parts and well under an hours labour.

I had cut the crappers out of my floor to get L4 and 2,3,R. I just moved the plate back abit and used self tappers to screw it down. I had also cut the floorpan as well.

This is how I plan on doing the low range on my new shorty (only got one lever as its an auto). As I have friends who have done it that way and it looks much better. I also so have some that have been cut, bent and rewelded in the shed some where. But I think a mate already has dibs on them.

The last would be best suitable as i have damaged a gear stick with the heat.

get some sheet rubber or steel and fill in the gap.

i'm curious.... do people still need to cut 'n' bend the transfer stick if they do a 1" lift as they do a 2" lift?
