Do all Vitaras now run 16" rims? Or is it just the Grand Vitaras with their alloys?

Also what width are they?

Any Vitara owners who have changed their wheels want to sell a set to me?

I believe new ones are in fact 16's... mine's still from the days where the SWB was 15... :(

The older 2 litre models have 16 inch rims but I think their different than the Grand Vitara.

Yes, I've been keeping an eye on the Grand Vitara and XL7s. There seem to be at least four different alloy wheel designs.

So are there 16" steel wheels on the current models too? The info on the Suzi web site appears to indicate this? It says tyre size is 235/60R16, but also "alloy wheels shown are optional."

Does anyone know the width?

The V6's had a 16" wheel to clear the bigger brakes. There was an optional 16" alloy too - even on the earlier Vitara's (mid 90's not late 80"s I'm talking about). Tyre size for both I believe was 235/60/16. I checked to see the current XL7 and GV is the same.

Have they stopped selling the Soft-top as I didnt see it on the site.

I sold my old 15x7 sunraysia's and I doubt you want my 15x5.5"s, but I'll sell em to you if you want

Thanks for the offer, but it's the 16" ones I'm after. I've seen a set at the wreckers, but they had some huge weird ass tyre on them (plus a huge weird ass price to match!)

I want a set for use on road with the low profile tyres (235/60) to put on my Feroza. The Vitara offset is supposed to be a bit better. Not really fussed by steel or alloy, just the 16" size.

The Soft-Top ran with 205/75R15 (rim: 15x5.5)... also I believe the 1.6 tin-top had the same configuration. It's only the 2lt up that has 16s.

But the 205/75R15 tyre size is a very peculiar one! In an AT pattern I could only find the Coopers AT and the Goodyear ATR... went for the Coopers... like the stepped pattern

I can't see how 16" is better than 15" except for on road - less sidewall flex = good onroad, bad offroad.

Unless you wanna run something like 235/85/16 tyres........

Yes, I want them for on road use only. Will be keeping my 15" ones and fitting something like a 235/75 MTR - or that's the plan anyway.

I've got 2 near new 205/75 AT Open Country Kuhmo's and 3 very dubious looking Bridgestone H/T's just stacked in my shed. If anyone does feel the need for some 205/75s please let me know.

Even as a spare set the 205s are probably not much good to me these days since the Viagra has lifted so much. If I put the 205s on it looks like a freak - a legal freak but a freak nonetheless.

You can get 215/75 and 225/70 pretty easily too. If you're going road only then maybe the 215/65 Taxidrivers favourite road tyre is what u need..... cheap and long lasting... kinda like using bluetac as chewing gum.

Bugger... I left home about the same time you posted this... I would've been interested in the Toyo's but I've already booked fitting the Coopers in for Monday. Oh well at least like this I'll have all 4's on the same tread pattern.

As for the HT's... they're a good road tyre. They came on my Terios as standard equipment but I managed to get a series of slashes on the sidewalls as well as a few punctures so I changed over to Bridgestone AT's (Dueler 693 I think) within the first 2 months Still had a few punctures with the AT's though (mainly nails and screws) but never any damage to the sidewalls...

Just a small note... Federal make tough tyres and they're generally pretty cheap... might consider their options... also General Tires have an excellent AT tread-pattern however I've never seen them in Oz...

Try looking through the site http://www.conti-online.com/generator/www/us/en/generaltire/automobile/themes/van/extreme_traction/grabber_at/master_en.html ... (they've also got more aggressive treads if you want) in Europe they're pretty much as inexpensive as the Federals... not sure if you can get them here though.

Since you're in Melbourne It's not worth the effort of sending them down there anyway.
