Heat the gear lever with an oxy and bend it slightly. Works a treat

Make sure you pack wet rags round the stick!!!!!!! Otherwise you will destroy the rubber bushes that are inside the stick that stop vibrations from the road. You want to use the absolute minimum heat you can get away with.

As another option you can cut and re-weld the gearstick to any length or angle that works for you.

It may not be the gear lever. When i did mine i bent the gear lever to suit and then the rubber boot was stopping it from engaging 2nd and 4th gears. You need to modify the boot.

First take the boot out and put the console back in and drive it and see if it pops out. Ifit does it just means the boot is getting in the way of the gear lever and the floor, you can either muck arounf bending the lever more, or just cut away a little of the boot.
