I've seen a couple with standard hilux tanks fitted on the left hand side. The exhaust has to be shifted outside the chassis.
Patrol tank might be easier to fit.

Is there anyway to fit a standard hilux tank on the opposite side and keep the exhaust under the chassis? i have a spare tank and its too wet to go take a look myself at the moment..

Ive got a standard tank mounted opposite but the exhaust has been moved outside the chasis, as far as i can see there is no other position for the exhaust to me mounted.

Mine has had (doesn't have now) a Second tank b4 i bought it and the exhaust has been moved. I have a 100 series tank sitting @ home waiting till i can get the time to mount it in place.

a gq tank is suppose to fit perfectly between the chassis rail. i have to move my main tank as mine gets rubbd by my tailshaft when i get lots of air. lol

Guys if your after some DIY tips check out this site:
http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/techsite/body.htm There are 3 types of home made tanks in there using patrol/jackaroo tanks. even though it's for surf/4runner it may be similar mounting for standard hilux's. I've got the patrol tank in mine and it works really well.
Cheers
Dan.
