whats the advantage of tsls over tsl sx's? i was told that they bag down more and grip to rocks better. Is this the normal opinion?

advantages of sx's over tsl's? side lugs for mud/thicker sidewall????

TSL's are cheaper too

i believe the sxs are more of a radial and handle the road better.

the q78's (tsl) have the deeper tread, same as the 42's & 44's etc where the sx's & normal swamper ie 34,36, 38 etc.... have a shallower tread depth

alot of people that run V8s in there rigs run the sxs because they are a very tough tyre, no need to worry about sidewalls.

SX's weigh a fair bit more for the same sizing

the SX's work great as a steer tyre. they don't squirm as much as the TSL's or centipedes
they are still a bias ply but the carcass is much heavier than a standard TSL so the SX's don’t bag as much.

In ruts they are amazing they just climb the walls like nothing else. in deep mud they are ok, no bogger, and not as aggressive as a Q78

Agreed they are tough - especially in the sidewalls - I just wasn't sure I agreed with the V8 reference.
The other thing is those stiff sidewalls mean you bnned lowere pressurs to get similar agging, and Beadlokcs are vertually mandatory got get the numbers required to get them performing at their best.

I have run Q78 15's and 36 12.5 SX's on my Gwagen.

The SX's are far heavier, quieter on road (go figure!) and more stable than the '78's.

They bag fine at around 10psi on my 2500KG G, but I have beadlocks.
The sidewall grip is pretty handy.

however, they are far from indestructable. I tore a 3" long rip in a sidewall on teh second day I was running them. Lucky I had five!

Personally, I rate the Q78's a bit better than the SX's, but I am far from disappointed with them.

I still run 32x11.5 sx's on my zook. Still a big fan of them too. Though it desperatley needs bead locks to get the most of them.

It's all about the case construction......
TSL/SX are a bias tyre that run belts which gives better high speed stability and reduced crowning (flatter footprint). They also have 'wrap-around lugs'.
TSL are a conventional Bias Tyre without belting.
Having said that, you can also get Radial TSL with Steel Belting.

i just brought TSLs 38x12.5x15 for 380each. Great tyre and awesome price.

the 35" 3 lug Pede is 35.5" tall & the 36" 3 lug Pede is 36.5" tall.
I was out on Sunday with a few mates at Toolangi and we were running 36" Pedes x 2 cars & 38.5 Swampers on a GQ LWB.
We did the boggy runs on Blowhard and we all had to winch in some stages when we couldn't get enough momentum happening but on the long bog run where you could get a run up the Swampers ruled (Shirty gave it a few goes to get up and over) where we had to winch out (still good fun though)
For a tire thats been around for a long time they still work well.

My 36" ET2's measure under 35.5 inches on 15x10's. These tyres have done maybe 15km on the road so basically no wear.

Had TSL SX's on my zook for a while, these now reside on Steve's G.

Both tyres are good offroad, can't really comment on road. The Simex's really really suck on rock, the SX's are OK on Vic trail rock.

Why not Krawlers? or Trepadores?
