RA Rodeo 2004 turbo diesel

My brother has a 2004 model RA Rodeo which he is looking to lift, looking for options.

We have spoken to ARB and they say they can get about 50mm front by by repositioning torsion bars but that they rear is only 30mm, this is also using Old Man Emu suspension. Is there a way to get the 50mm from the rear? We are looking at extended shackles but they are illegal in Queensland. We have been told that snake racing shackles are legal but do they give any lift? He realises it will never be the toughest rig just needs to get a bit more clearance. Any advice would be great.

I got Tough Dog leaves for my 98. Got 60mm of lift.
Pretty sure they do them for RA's as well.

I was enquring about the tough dogs last week - they are 45mm lift, well the ones i received a quote for were.

Yes that's right, mine were "45mm" too but I got 60mm of lift, measured from bottom dead centre of the wheel rim to the wheel arch.
They should settle down to about 50mm over time.
I got the 5+1 Premium Pack through Opposite Lock.

The greasable shackles they supplied were 1/4" shorter than the Holden originals. Nothing in it really. The response I got was that they are a universal fit for quite a few utes although I'd like them an inch or so longer to get that extra bit of travel from the back wheels.

One thing I've noticed is that the Holden catalogue page on 4 Way Suspension web site has not been available for some time now.
Was very handy for checking availability of Tough Dog stuff.

All rear suspension lifts are going to be restricted by the available height from the torsion bars, weather you purchase new bars or preload your OEM bars they achieve the same vehicle heights, the aftermarket torsion bars will be off a higher rate (approx 96.6 Nm/deg based on a 30mm OD and SAE5160 steels for the torsion bar). A height of approx 35-45mm can be acheived after the torsion bars wound and raised (be carefull not to raise too high as this front suspension does not have a rebound bump stop, the suspensions rebound is govenered by the shock absorbers extended lenght). The raised rear height of approx 45-55mm can be achieved with aftermarket suspension, the efficient aftermarket leaf spring designers and resellers like EFS, Kings Springs and OME can provide a proper raised height while maintaining efficient shackle angles and spring rates for your application. Talk to one of these suspension providers and explain your requirements as per your vehicles application and mass. Your desires will be achieved, both ensure you discuss your issues with professional suspension people and not ordinary suspension resellers. It's not worth doing the job twice. My IFS has bumpstops top and bottom.
T/B wind up doesn't change wheel travel length just a higher ride height, sits the upper bump stop closer or right on the control arm stopper and the shockers sit extended more. Down travel will be next to nothing depending how much the bars are wound up. But the bumpstops will still stop wheel travel before the shockers do. I am talking about pre-RA series here though, I dont know if RA's have both upper and lower bumpstops.

A big increase in front ride height on Rodeo's (not sure about RA's though) will give too much positive camber though (outer treads will wear quick) but can be corrected by flipping the upper ball joints or fitting Calmini upper control arms.
But doing this will increase wheel travel (good off road) so the shockers need to match the extra wheel travel and the bumps stops may need modding so they stop wheel travel before the shockers do.

I've also been warned that the standard cv's will wear out quicker when 4wdriving if the lift puts the front drive axles over 30 deg. from horizontal but I think Haultech make h/d ones for Rodeo's/Jacks that can handle more angle.
