presumably apart from radiator issues etc in the engine bay you would need to trim the body for the gear levers, maybe need to extend and the steering will need an extension as well, never heard of one that large, but spose those who have done 3" would be able to give you some idea

just found the email of a guy from m y old mans 4x4 club up there in Macaurthur nsw this question was for a 6inch but i have decided since to go 4 inch

as for gear leavers and stuff wont need to touch because your rasing the supsention not the body :) steering u will have to watch for i cant think of much more

There is no change on the diff breathers & brake lines.
Trailer arms & drive shaft stay unchanged.
Transfer case & gearbox had to be lowered by an inch
to get rid of vibrations.

Also the caster plates haven't been touched.

I had the lift done at TJM at a cost of approx. $3000.00

Later I found out Paul Lockeyer from Camden Auto Service
could have done it for lot cheaper, approx. $2200.00

Four inch lift would probably be approx. $1000.00.

If it's just a toy why not cut the bjezzus out of the guard instead?
IMHO a 4" BL is just wrong :finger:

MathewK his is talking about a body lift, not suspension.

A year or so ago in 4wd monthly there was a comptition GQ with a 4inch body and 6inch suspension. Ive tried looking for the article but i cant find it. Im sure someone would know the issue number?

Cheers Julian

Two inch is taking a risk with the tension on bolts and I have seen them snap with a 2 inch body lift. You are very game going 4 inches champ. I have a 6 inch suspension lift no body lift and run 36 inch simex's. Everyone to there own though.

i have bought 39.5x13.5-15in irok's i dont want them to touch...

i have moved the front diff 4in forward so they wont touch the guards, and its an extra cab so dont need to worry about rear but with 7in coils and 2in body might still touch the guards..

Four inches of body lift is not a safe proposition; if you were going to do it you would want to do something a lot stronger than just lift blocks and longer bolts ie modification to the chassis or body itself.

If you just did it with bolts and blocks, all the parts involved would be under stress well beyond what they were designed for - you could pretty much guarantee them snapping sooner or later with resulting damage all over the place.

Also, with that much body lift you might be in danger of accidentally driving through the first layer of gravity, and ending up god knows where.

As MQHOON said, Mannell use to have 4 inch body lifts in all hes old nissans, use to be the way to go. 7 inch springs, 4 inch body. See who had the highest nissan. (Always drove like crap. on and off-road. centre of gravity way too high. Myself and plenty of blokes i know have/do run 38 inch plus size tyres with no more than 6 inches of lift. ie 4 inch spring 2 inch body MAX. stress on bolts is wild. Front guards on yours should be trimmed back. 39's will fit easy. 2 inch body max. better still none. 7 inch springs. f n high enough.

sorry guys i miss read, its what happened when you dont sleep,

thats a fair amount of work for a body lift if its just off road toy wack a 6inch surpen lift and 2inch body in it and cut the guards fit 35 to 39s
it will handle like crap and problems of the body moving so much putting strain on the bolts and other componets

I ran 39.5 - 15 swampers on a GQ coil cab with a 4 inch lift and 3 inch body lift with 15mm caster arm spacers, you don't need to do a 4 inch body lift just cut the guards.

agree..
but as said, the stress' put on them bolts can be massive, I bent my hightensile bolts with my 2in lift, when I went to replace the bodymount rubbers, 2 bolts were fukt.

Fark me Nigel......................just buy my truck instead of lifting yours exactly the same, the green paint, your wanted add for a cheezy style front bar, etc. :finger: :finger: :finger:

Man I don't see the point in it really. I dropped my truck at my brother in-laws workshop and asked him to turn up 2" blocks for it. He turned up 4" blocks and had his boys fit them then rings me and says come over and have a look at what I've done. I get there to see it with 4" body lift. He thought it would look cool but I pointed out that it is more prone to roll and he said drive it like that till he gets more time in a week or 2 and take it back down to 2"...........................that was 12mth ago

Now having said that the 38's still rub the chassis and guards at full flex of the 5 link but trim guards will help that and run spacers on the front rims to clear the chassis.
