Hey Guys,
Trying to find out diff ratio in my 89 import Pajero swb. 2.5TD.
Any body know what it is?
I have a aussie LSD centre and trying to see if it would fit.
Thanks
Jason

I would say it would be a 4.875.
But some of these did came out with 5.29's.
There should be a compliance plate under the bonnet or on the firewall saying what transmission and diff ratio it has.
Look for 4.875 or 5.285.

You should also find that the diff is already LSD?
I don't know the quick way of telling (susposed to be a yellow/ orange sticker on the drivers door jam?) but this wasn't on mine I'm just assuming mine also has the LSD.
Further help would be good. (apart from jacking up the wheels and rotating the wheels.
Cheers

how much better on the highway would the 4.875 be?
my 5.29 revs too high at 110kmh, have been thinking of changing it.
anyone with 4.875 and 33s wish to comment???

Mate I'll swap.
I have the 4.875 with a auto box and 2.5ITD with 33"s and around town I leave the overdrive off. It just dosn't seem to have any grunt. always dropping back.
I would rather have it reving a bit high than reving high in a lower gear and have a gear unused.
On the highway its not too bad but if it sniffs a hill it drops back to 3rd and runs at 3000rpm (or higher) especially bad with the cruise control set as it cannot anticipate.
If your still interested in the swap please let me know......

mine will rev at 3500rpm at 110 on the free way, well thats what the guages say, but with 33's i think i'm really doing 120 ish

on my holliday i mostly kept it on 3000 or just under and the speedo was on 100kmh and gps 102-103kmh
once or twice i opened it up to 4000rpm or so. certainly got the power, maybe its just the auto??

Mine sits on about 3000rpm @ 100kph by the speedo. Allthough all my mates keep saying that im going at least 10ks ova the limit, I have the 3l v6 and 5 speed manual.

With 33" tyres it's likely you are running about 10% faster than indicated. Watch out for the men with the funny hats...

I'm pretty sure I can fix that with a tool kit and a couple of hours work. You will end up with twin lockers and 4.875 diffs and I will end up with 5.29's (and if memory serves me correctly a rear locker).
Everyones a winner as far as I can see.
