This goes to all people who are up on the toyota gearboxes and bellhousings
ok i am running 21R-C with Diesel 4 Speed Gearbox then Hilux Transfer
Gearbox to t-case is a no brainer but the motor to gearbox i am unsure as to what bellhousing, clutch and flywheel i will require
can i use the 18R bellhousing on my petrol gearbox on the diesel (asking cause i havn't picked up the diesel gearbox and haven't pulled petrol gearbox of 18R motor i have)
and for a clutch i can then use the 18R one right
so anyone able to fill me in on what i need to do?

You cant use the deisel gearbox behind a petrol engine at all.
The 18R petrol gearbox will bolt straight up as long as you use the 21R flywheel.

Why do you want to use the deisel box for anyway?
Why not just use the petrol box?

i have been lead to believe the diesel was stronger - if it can't be done it can't be done
have both boxes

Yes you have been lead to beleive this and as i have told you many times they are both weak.
But this wont be a problem with a 21R.

If it was a real good option i could make an adapter to fit the deisel box behind the Petrol engine but it would take a lot of time and effort and i dont realy think it is worth it. The box is old and i beleive it to be weaker than a G52. I have seen way too many deisel 4spd fail. Especialy when behind V8 engines.
I beleive the 5spd is a better option and at least then you will be able to run just about any engine in front of this as bellhousings are basicaly all interchangable.

i will use the petrol one for ease then for now till i decide on a which motor i want to eventually runn - who knows i have thought of rebuilding the 21R - i am going to put a new timing chain and guides on and need the gaskets to reassemble to motors so it might get rings as well.
so basicly i will decide what gearbox to run when i decide which motor i will run all the time

this is my favourite quote! They are both weak, the 21R is weaker
