ok guys iv pulled off the wheel and the axle to measure it for the sleaves
but was horrified when i saw this pics below,

it looks like the big assed washer between the wheel bearing and 58mm nut that holds it in place how the crap can u do this to it?

i got to figure that there a lose tooth off the diff floating around????????
just cant think of anything else, the bearing are solid in place and there is no movment and spin normally when tuning it by hand

any help? ideas?

That is a lock tab or lock washer. It is supposed to look like that.
It helps prevent tne nut from working loose.

I thought the same thing when I did the front wheel bearings i my MQ. Looks a bit rude but apparently that's just how they are.

By the looks of it, someone has been there before you.

Nicks are caused by previous workman using a chisel to undo or do up. Common for some to do it this way.

Check to make sure your diff breather is clean and open as if blocked can alsomcauses diff seals to leak as pressure builds up.

diff brwathers are clear

ok well explain thats then, that just shit me if thats the quality of a machanics workmanship

next thing is for those interested i found the speedy sleaves here in dandenong at a place called cbc bearings 97948511
for my patrol the 1988 Gq rear disc brake 4.2l petrol
the sleave measures at 42mm so it a very tight fit on the axle as the axle measure 42.6 to 42.7mm they are also a $27.90 plus gst a sleave
i also found the front hub bearings are worth $53 plus gst and the rear bearins are $119 plus gst

justy somthing i thought you people be interested in anyways

Well worth changing your lock nut set up for the newer and better GU one which has a collet washer and screws. Ask main dealer for it as it`s a direct replacement.

For the front wheel bearing lock nuts set only, about $60, Blackburn Nissan

The double row bearing on the GQ axle is a 'destroy to remove item' and the whole thing requires a massive press to take off/put on! Often they will make musical noises (painful and unending) when either the spacer or seal starts spinning on the shaft, but they are on the OUTSIDE of the bearing assy!! It is either a case of put up with the noise until the bearing goes, or destroy the bearing to put the speedy sleeve in!!

In any case, the Rear axle bearing isn't really something the average home mechanic should attempt to do, unless they have access to a dirty great press, and even then it's a real pain, not just a bit of a pain! If you do try it yourself, use heaps of loktite or whatever to make sure that the seal or spacer CANNOT ever spin on the axle shaft!! I've done many engine and gearbox re-builds my self, and most other work that can be done on any vehicle, but will NEVER do a GQ rear axle bearing at home again!

but im not touching the bearings as its fine:D

simple to slide the speedy sleave down to where the oil seals going to seal up the axle and hopefully stop leaking :)
