Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi there, I've just replaced my leaking radiator and while its out I was wondering if I can flush out the rest of the system? Is it safe to put a hose in one of the pipes and flush away? if so should I flush from the top or bottom or both? I just don't want to damage anything in the thermo housing.....thanx

Take the thermo housing off, and remove the thermostat. Then flush away to your hearts content. See if you have a block drain. If so, remove this as well. In fact, remove as many things as possible to completely flush the block. Back flush as well.

Also flush the heater core, bot directions, through the heater hoses.

Whilst the thermostat is out throw it away and out in a new one. They are a disposable and important item.

yep they cost a lot when they stuff up i know my thermostat stuffed up and cost $7000. for a new motor

ditto the f*(&ed engine story.

have an ask around and see if you can get some acid flush. you put it in and leave it for a bit, then flush well. it should help to get rid of any scale on the walls of the water galleries.
