Hey all.
Remember my Roza? Death rattle, hesitation, surging, no power, bad fuel economy, when cold takes 10 secs of full throttle to reach 4K, etc, etc.
Death rattle - loose exhaust mounting
The rest now fixed too - and I haven't replaced the Oxy sensor yet!
- New Coil - the other one had double the resistance it should have - basic Bosch electronic one
I knew it was timing related, after working with some friends...
SO I took the manual and took the plunge - I ripped out the Distributor.....
Oh my, oh my. Of all the 'check tests' in the manual, it failed the lot! The vaccumm advancer most mostly stuffed, the govenor at the bottom was stuffed, the static plate was stuffed - and to top it all - there were broken bits flowing around inside.....
Pulled the bearings of the static plate apart, no grease, just black gunk - I would say this car has been underwater at some point!
Went to the local Daihatsu Wreckers at Coopers Plains (thanks guys - you deserve the plug) and got another dizzy, that on quick test did all the things it should...
My Roza has never run as well as this! Worth every cent, and every hour...
Still not perfect (stalls under heavy breaking for example), but I have fiddled a lot of things before I got the Dizzy done today, so it's time to unfiddle them.....
Very happy! Now if only I could get that @#@# oxy sensor out to put the new one in.....
Drewe
